Governor Kate Brown among the 53 NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC endorsed candidates who won in 2018. NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon also had a 100% record on endorsed positions on ballot measures, including the defeat of Measure 106, a dangerous backdoor ban on abortion.
Portland City Council votes unanimously to pass resolution that directs city attorneys to challenge abortion bans in Alabama, Ohio. The resolution, introduced by Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty and co-sponsored by all city commissioners and Mayor Ted Wheeler, affirms Portland will remain a city that supports abortion access for all.
Today the Oregon Senate voted 21-6 to pass House Bill 2005 (2 excused, 1 absent), which will establish Oregon’s first statewide paid family and medical leave insurance program. As a steering committee member of the Time to Care Oregon coalition, NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon, helped lead this historic victory for Oregon families, even as H.B. 2005 was among the 100 bills held up by the 7-day Senate Republican walk-out.
