PORTLAND – Following yesterday’s election, NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC proudly announced a 100% record on endorsed positions on November’s ballot measures, including the defeat of Measure 106, a dangerous backdoor ban on abortion. Oregon also voted yes on Measure 102 and no on Measures 103, 104, 105. In addition, Oregonians elected 53 of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC’s 2018 endorsed candidates, re-electing Governor Kate Brown and flipping key districts by electing Anna Williams and Rachel Prusak to the Oregon State Legislature.

NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon and NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC invested more than $315,000 in the 2018 cycle, supporting pro-choice champions and helping to defeat Measure 106.

On the highly-contested Governor’s race, Grayson Dempsey, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC had this to say:

“Knute Buehler knew he couldn’t win in a state like Oregon with his conservative record. Instead, he ran a deceitful campaign that lied to women about his pro-choice record and no vote on the Reproductive Health Equity Act of 2017. I could not be more proud of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC and the work we did to set the record straight.”

Oregon House Majority Leader Rep. Jennifer Williamson echoed this sentiment, “With our values on the ballot, Oregon voters stepped up and made their voices heard. We are thankful to have a Governor who will partner with progressive majorities in the Oregon House and Senate to defend access to reproductive healthcare and pass policies like Paid Family and Medical Leave.”

Natalie Sept, Chair of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon’s PAC said, “In a time of unprecedented attacks on Roe v. Wade, Oregon voters sent a resounding message throughout the state and across the nation: Women must be trusted to make their own decisions about their lives, bodies, and futures.”

The accomplishments of the 2018 election could not have happened without the involvement of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon members, who volunteered thousands of hours to the largest and most diverse coalition in Oregon campaign history. NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon members were among thousands of mobilized volunteers who ultimately contacted over a million voters by knocking on 400,000 doors, making 65,000 phone calls and texting over 855,000 voters.
